Happy Valentine’s Day

In honor of the romantic holiday, The Hush Radar would like to pay tribute to one of the video game industry’s most beloved (unofficial) couples: Mario and Princess Peach.

Mario has been saving the life of the Super Mario Bros. franchise’s infamously pink, damsel-in-distress for over 20 years. (In fact, Princess Peach, also known as Princess Toadstool, has appeared in more video games than any female character in history.)

Oftentimes described as “Mario’s unofficial sweetheart” and sometimes “friend” (ouch), the Mushroom King’s daughter, Peach,  is habitually kidnapped by Bowser and has spent the majority of her career trapped in castles. She did, however, have a brief stint as “Nurse Toadstool” in the Dr. Mario game and also took her own turn rescuing Mario in the Nintendo DS game, “Super Princess Peach.”

After more than two decades, we think maybe it’s time for Mario to put a (red) ring on it!

What could be keeping this Ross & Rachel-esque couple from making it official? Are plumbing and princessing too different of career paths?

Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim television show, Robot Chicken, did a hilarious parody of Mario meeting Princess Peach’s parents
